However the during 20 century the imprinted but now outdated economic view of the self-interested and insatiable human and the cherry picking of bad news in the media obscured the small acts of kindness that happen every day.
Empathy has also been on the rise throughout history and we have included more and more people who we see as our equals and now we have to continue expanding our boundary of caring.
Unfortunately, this rise of caring has happened at the expense of increasing entropy and destroying our resource base. Because our survival in a complex connected world depends on our ability to expanding empathy to include the whole biosphere and since the world is recreated by us and we are recreated by the world we have to start noticing acts of kindness that makes us human.
We also have to confront an economy that increases the inequality threatening our ability to empathize. Let us show empathy in a more sustainable way.
